In three separate lawsuits, Trump is attempting to dismiss claims against him related to that day. These lawsuits rely on the same law – the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871 – that Kaplan Hecker & Fink’s team used in Charlottesville to hold the organizers of the 2017 Unite the Right rally accountable for the conspiracy they participated in and the violence they caused. Here, Robbie, Joshua, and Ray outline why Trump’s attempts to dismiss these lawsuits should fail for many of the same reasons those of the white supremacists we faced in Charlottesville did.
