Alysha M. Naik

Alysha M. Naik is a senior associate at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP, resident in the New York office. She joined the firm in 2022.

Alysha’s practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, appeals, and public interest and civil rights litigation across a broad spectrum of industries and legal issues.  Through her appellate practice, Alysha has contributed to amicus briefs filed on behalf of a range of clients, including former White House and Department of Justice officials opposing President Trump’s claims of presidential immunity relating to the events of January 6, 2021, and public interest organizations opposing a state practice of requiring the filing of individual actions to seek the return of illegitimately obtained funds.

Alysha joined the firm from Latham & Watkins, where she represented plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex civil and securities matters, including at trial. Her experience includes securing a $1.04 billion bench trial judgment for UBS in a decade-long breach of contract dispute against hedge funds affiliated with Highland Capital Management. She also represented Virgin Media, Inc., a media and telecommunications company in a civil suit filed in New Jersey Superior Court. The trial team obtained summary judgment disposing of $1 billion in claims for lost profits under an indemnity agreement. The remaining equitable claims were settled on favorable terms during trial. While at Latham, she also advised defendants in government investigations. Alysha also maintained an active pro bono practice, including briefing and arguing a successful immigration appeal before the Third Circuit. At Latham, Alysha was the New York and co-global leader of the Asian & Middle Eastern Lawyers Group and on the steering committee of the firm’s associate-driven Multicultural Promotion & Attainment Coalition.

Alysha was recognized as a New York Metro Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2020, 2021, and 2022. She is a member of the South Asian Bar Association of New York, the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, and the South Asian Bar Association of North America. Additionally, Alysha is a member of the Asian American Bar Association of New York, of which she is also a Membership Committee Co-Chair.

She received her J.D., cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School, where she was the Executive Development Editor of Michigan Law Review Vol. 115. She was also the co-Vice President of the South Asian Law Students Association and the President of Future Advocates in Training, a program geared toward coaching a local Michigan middle school mock trial team. Alysha was also a student in the Veterans Legal Clinic and a writing tutor for Professor Patrick Barry’s writing program. She received her B.A. in International Relations from Brown University. While at Brown, she co-founded the Alternative Breaks Program, a program engineered around volunteering in Chajul, Guatemala during college breaks. She was also the Head Chairman of the Community Outreach and Public Service component of Brown Ivy Council. Alysha was also a Captain and Executive Board Member of Brown’s Mock Trial team and was awarded an All-American Attorney Award at the National Championship Tournament. She also contributed to Wendy Doniger’s The Hindus: An Alternative History and Sheila Bonde’s A Framework for Making Ethical Decisions.
